Would you recommend getting involved in InterVarsity at Trinity?
InterVarsity has been, simply put, a joy for me. College had its moments of confusion and madness, especially at the very beginning... but right from the start I was able to find fellowship with a unique group of individuals through IV. Getting a liberal arts education is great for many reasons, such as the obvious reason of getting a diverse education in the classroom. It is through the people, however, that the liberal arts education shines. My best friends in college had differing philosophical ideas, political stances, and classroom studies - yet, we met and grew together in Christ with our differences.
You'd be surprised what a Religion major can learn from Mathematicians and Urban Studies majors in a small group Bible study... or what a New Media minor can gain by worshiping with a Theatre kid, a Chemist, and an English major. But when you have what InterVarsity has, it all of a sudden isn't so surprising. A community comprised of individuals who care about one another, their peers on campus, and the world around them... all while strengthening their personal relationships with God and not being afraid to share... or have fun. Now that's a community - and it's more than worth getting involved.

I truly valued the community and the accountability from InterVarsity. I feel that my personal relationship with Jesus grew exponentially through the accountability of loving people. I knew I was in a safe place where there was evidence of Jesus' unconditional love, grace, forgiveness, and patience. I made life long friends who encourage me to grow closer to Jesus and who care for me. I was also able to grow in learning about different cultures and God's love, value, and gifts that can be seen through different cultures. Serving through InterVarsity was also a blessing. Being able to try and replicate the love Jesus gave me for other members of the community was a challenge and a blessing.Jenny Yu '06

My involvement in InterVarsity at Trinity was quite possibly the most invaluable and life-changing part of my entire undergraduate experience. Although I was raised in a Christian family and had grown up going to church every Sunday, before coming to Trinity I had never experienced the personal relationship with God that I knew He was calling me to have with Him. I was still growing in my faith and knew that I had questions about God and about being a Christian that I hoped would be answered during college. I also knew that I wanted to become a part of a Christian community in which I could both grow in my faith and create long-lasting friendships with those who also had a passion for following Christ. That is where InterVarsity came into the picture.
For me, Intervarsity was a community of believers who continually exhibited compassion, forgiveness, encouragement, and spiritual growth as both a community and as individuals. In this community, I was able to see how God calls us to treat our brothers and sisters in Christ; we rejoiced with one another but also grieved with one another, and the Christian love I experienced inspired me to live out my life in a way that glorifies Him - in a way that would show everyone at Trinity, believers and non-believers alike, the kind of love that is such an important part of following Christ. We encouraged one another to take bold steps in our faith, such as through campus outreach events and evangelism, and as our community did this, I was able to take bold steps in my own faith, which grew immeasurably during my time at Trinity. Not only did I learn how to study Scripture in a way that really allowed me to connect with God, I truly experienced the power of prayer and was able to use it to not only grow closer to those around me, but also to grow closer to God and experience the kind of personal relationship with Him that I had strived for since starting college.
